After a while of deliberation it's defo apparent my headgasket has gone on my e21 today it wouldn't start as the 2nd cylinder was full of water we took the spark plug out and sure enough it spat out aload of fluid when turnt over, also noticed a crack on the manifold :-/
Wondering if it's worth just getting a new m10. Plan was were gonna be attempting the head gasket
The plan is skim and pressure test, and headgasket replacement,if we were to do the gasket any to avoid or hg to avoid?

Always used Victor reinz or Elring head gaskets in the past, good quality and usually come with all the other gaskets and seals you're likely to need.

HG swap on an M10 is pretty straight forward but I'd defo combine it with grinding the valve seats and replacing the valve seals. But, before starting off with a job like that always lift the valve cover first to check if you don't have excessive wear on your camshaft which can make your project more exensive than you hoped for.

Problem in this case is that you don't know how much damage the water start has caused. As water doesn't like to be compressed you might have bent a conrod or valves. After extensive starting attempts that is quite likely. If you don't want to take risks, get another engine and preferably one you can hear in a running condition. Can't be too expensive.

So worth just getting a new engine entirely then hmm maybe that's the root il go down

I've been through four used M10's now and had overheating/oil pressure issues with all of them. Probably worth getting something to rebuilt tbh, which is the root I'm going down now.
