Hey guys, i was thinking about a swap for my E21. I found that M50b20 is a good choice. What do you think i should do. And did any body made this swap before ?! What i only know that i should take that engine from an e34 because the oil pan is away from the floor so it won't be broken. What else ?!

Agree, better do M50B25 or even better still M50B28/M52B28. You need an E34 oil pan indeed, search on M50 e34 oil pan gives you several useful topics.

Is the oil pan of the M50b20 is same as M50b25/28 and M52b20/25/28 ?! Or there is difference ?

So the oil pan of M50b20 is only 1 and i can't get any other that may fit. I found someone here made an M50 swap and he cutted the oil pan !!! Is that ok ? http://www.bmwe21.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21630

No.

Any e34 with 24v engine has the correct sump.

The 2.0 engine is too slow. I told you that already you'll be sorry you didn't listen

Get the engine and then YOU decide if you need to cut it.

I know that u are right but the 2.0L is the only engine which is available. I also need an engine for daily use and here in Egypt it is crowded so the fuel combustion rate will be too high. I was going for an M42 but i thought that a 6cylinder would be better. Am asking about cutting the oil pan because i think the amount of oil which is required to fill the engine will be less and the oil pump should be cutted also or what ?!

You guys don't drive on the right so you won't have to cut the sump because you install engine at correct angle.

The 2.0 fuel consumption is about same as 2.5 but has 50hp less. Shame you don't have the 2.5 there really.

I have cut and rewelded a number of the sumps and I add an extra box section on the side in order to keep the same capacity of oil. You are right you do also have to cut the oil pickup and weld that too. Like I say you don't need to do this as you don't have any brake system on the right hand side of your bay like we do in Rhd country
