hi guys and girls. wanted your opinions. i always wanted to paint my e30 sepang bronze as i LOVE the colour but i sold that and bought my e21 about a year and half ago. the concern i have is that if i paint it sepang bronze, im sure it will raise some eyebrows and ill get some bad looks because the world famous e21 owned by neek is sepang bronze, with all chrome blacked out which is what i have already done to my e21. what do you guys think. im stuck between these 2 bronzes, the wife wants to paint it a pastel colour, which isnt a bad idea. your feedback is very welcome
SEPANG BRONZE
mercedes orient bronze

Those two colours look pretty much the same so it'd make more sense to paint it a BMW colour. Sepang.

I liked sepang but didn't go for it because neek
I don't see why you need to paint it a Bmw colour, Porsche do a nice metallic brown.

In choosing between the two colours you show, are you going with matt like the BMW or glossy like the merc? Because my first thought was neither colour but I keep looking at it and that BMW colour and finish could be very interesting on an e21. So I vote the BMW one.

See this is the problem im facing. Iv always loved that colour. But my bumpers are already black. And once i paint it bronze, it will look just like neeks. Which im sure he wont be happy about. Dont want to step on anyones toes really. The other route is a pastel colour. But cant seem to find one that will suit black trim.

I see what your saying. If you have painted the bumpers black then I think the car will be too dark and loose all its lines in these colours. Maybe the pastel would be better. Then again, I was never a fan of loosing the chrome in the first place. Lol no help here I guess sorry.

Don't let your bumpers decide for you, in that case you can always have them re-chromed!

Hi S, I love and I mean love Sepang Bronze. The only thing I would consider is its potential seasonal appeal. For example, I used to love BMW lagoon green (looks pretty tacky now IMHO) and Daytona violet (A bit too Max Power and I'd be gutted driving an e21 this colour now)
Maybe it's a generation thing, but I'd rather go for a more conservatives choice that I will have a steady admiration for than be sick of the site if it in a few years. Silver, light grey's, dark grey's and of course black may not get the taste buds tingling, but will last the fashions of time.
You could of course ignore this and go with your heart and still be right - so really is only my two pence worth
P.S I wouldn't worry about treading on neeks toes with respect. No one has a patent on one colour and even if they did, imitation is the greatest form of flattery

when narrowed it down to like maybe ten colours, I got Mal to make them as post card sized swatches, then for two weeks I went to my usual places and looked at them under various lights under various weather conditions.
people thought I was crazy pulling out these paint cards everywhere but it did help me decide.

i understand what you mean about seasonal colours, i painted my mini a blue, and thinking back, i would never do that again. i feel like the bronze is quite a neutral colour, its dark, and will go well with black bumpers.
Nas i will get the painter to paint me a sample and do exactly what you did

i do quite like the Porsche bronze.
could anyone post up examples of pastel colours on cars, i have been looking but maybe someone has a colour i havent seen before, obviously it doesnt have to be on a bmw.

What a great idea Nas. Nothing wrong with being the original nutter in town.

Sepang is a lovely colour but there are already a few E21. There's one on the south coast and as you say, it just makes you think of Nic's car. I would just go with whatever colour you like, no matter what manufacturer it comes from. You could also got through BMW archive and check some of the solid colours, like sepia brown?
