Slight Waterpump Leak

Right, I've got a very small waterpump leak on my M20B25.

I can't for the life of me seem to seal it, I've sanded the faces of both the block and the pump, fitted a brand new BMW gasket and applied a thin layer of Hylomar Universal Blue sealant.

I was thinking of making my own cork gasket, say 1mm thick as that would provide a super tight seal, as opposed to the very thin BMW paper ones. I'm thinking cork will mould around any slight imperfections better?

Is this advisable or is it a big no-no or anything like that?

Failing that, does anyone have any suggestions?

buy a new waterpump - a genuine one.

With completely flat and clean surfaces the stock oem gasket should do the trick, wouldn't fabricate something myself. Sure it is leaking in between the two? Not the shaft seal?

Don't know where you got the pump but I'd get another example.

The pump is OEM, although I don't know how old it is.
