320/6 manifold exhaust down pipes

Hi all
I ordered and received two replacement pipes, and think that one is incorrect but trying to make sure.... I'm no expert on exhausts.
So, for my car (serial 6724268) I believe that I need the following:
Cyl 1-3: 18111175482
Cyl 4-6: 18111175486
But what I have been sent is:
Cyl 1-3: 18111175482 (correct)
Cyl 4-6: 1811117548
4 (possibly incorrect, certainly not what I ordered)
The incorrect (at least I think) part is the Imasaf brand, part no. 19.27.01.
My concern is that at the end that goes to the mid-silencer doesn't have a expanded end with a flange attached/included. Here's a few snaps:
I can't see how there would be a solid connection, even with an added flange surely the bolts would just pull the flanges together? Do I need to buy a conical spacer/gasket (like this:
http://www.ferrita.com/nb/universelle-d ... ninger/bmw) and a new flange to slide over the pipe end (cyl 4-6) so that when tightened up the new flange would 'nip into' the conical spacer/gasket?
Sorry if this seems seriously basic.
Ta
Dave

Maybe it's a 323i downpipe, if I remember right it doesn't have a flange on the centre section end, at least the 323i exhaust I had didn't... Anyway where did you buy these downpipes from? I've looked but haven't found any for sale for the 320/6...

Okay, so in your experience would it not be compatible then?
I ordered from
www.haeckner.com (prob best to email them), it took a while but at the time (I bought a few months back but just getting around to fitting) they were the best I could find... although I think that you can get them here now:
http://www.wallothnesch.com/auspuffanla ... 18-02.html which may be a far smoother transaction, and faster too.

Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for them?

Not at all, I paid €130.34 in total with shipping (through paypal), so that's about £100 thereabouts.
Although, I'm still none the wiser as to whether one pipe is correct....

That's not bad at all, yeah I don't want to pay Wallothnesch prices, otherwise I'd go stainless... From my memory of the 323i exhaust I had it doesn't use flanges anywhere but to connect to the manifolds, although the pipe shape is the same so if you could adapt a flange on it, it should work.
However maybe someone with a 323i can chime in...

Weird. The downpipes are the same for 320/6 and 323i. The 482 is correct, BMWfans says that the 484 is for LHD cars and the 486 for RHD?

Ha that's it, Jeroen is the man. In which case a bit of bending may be needed... The exhaust I had wasn't a standard one so that's probably why then...

Thanks Jeroen.
Damn, I really didn't want to modify the pipe, I may need to sell this one and get another! Unless I can get the supplier to sort it.... We'll see.

If you ordered the 486 for a RHD car I'd urge the supplier to come up with the right part at no additional cost and hope it has the flange

I agree, I'm trying that route first!

Right, I'm assured by the company I purchased from that the pipe they have sent me is the correct and current pipe that is made and used on the 320/6 (RHD or LHD) and that the original pipe with the flange attached is not being made any more.
I had a chat with wallothnesch also, and they said the same thing - and that the parts needed are a lose flange and a gasket ring.... the original supplier has ordered them and will send them to me this week, FOC.
I'll let you know what comes of it! I'm expecting to see something like this arrive in the post:
http://www.wallothnesch.com/satz-dichtr ... 1-912.html
and also:

That is correct, with the right matched parts one will slide onto the other and then the loose flange should be ok, did you try if that fits yet? Not factory for your car but if NLA this should work, if the routing doesn't have to be different because of the steering rack.

Still waiting on the parts now... there is a bit of a dispute (after all) on the costs.. haha, I knew it.
