Do I need to replace the piston or will just the spring do?

Is the whole tensioner not available on Euro parts? It is for the m20.

Check the front of the piston, mine had wear on it, so I chose to replace (I think the whole kit was less than 20 quid). If there's no wear then you could just replace the spring. Make sure you clean the piston up well, there is a small oil relief hole in there somewhere from memory which can get gunked up.

No, it's proving a little more difficult to get. W+N have it, as do BMW but both are fairly expensive for such a small part! Thanks guys.
