2 D.I.Y or not?

Hi guys. Been away for a bit getting ready for uni and all. I have done quite a bit to the baur even though it doesn't look it yet mostly driving everywhere to get the right shade of sapphire blue.=/ I am restoring the subframe and all the ancilliaries as well. Today I was looking at the subframe and front suspension and I noticed the strangest thing......my front springs were different from each other. I knew the car was lowered but I had asumed it was the right way..as in ....buy the lowering package with the matched smaller springs and shocks. BUT NO! hat strange knocking I heard when I last drove it was not the stabilizer bushings....it was my suspnsion as a whole. The last owner obviously thought lowering the car was a cool thing but didn't want to spend the money. So why not diy? Just cut some turns out of the spring and it will work. Well....there is a 3/8 difference in spring hight assembled and there is no tention on either spring. I didn't even need a spring compressor to take them out. Not only that ...they cut one spring upside down resluting in the loss of the narrow end of the progressive spring but only on one side. In short...Im glad I didn't sell the car this way...it was a death trap. The lesson here .....if you don't know what you are doing....leave it alone. hehehe.

So true! Might be much more fun to drive with some decent springs fitted! Check the top bearings for freeplay as well or you won't get rid of the knocking...
