Revshift flex disc :(

After coming across a link to Revshift.com around here somewhere, and reading about the doubtful quality of W&N flex discs, I decided to return the flex disc I had already bought from W&N - and pay up 150USD for the revshift flex disc upgrade.
They confirmed via email it would fit my car and gearbox (E21, 318, M10, 245) - and thinking it's always good to support small companies like that I happily ordered. I simply forgot to compare measurements to make sure..
The product looks and feels great, good build quality, and it came with a new set of washers.
Figured it would be easiest to attach the disc to the 245 gearbox before it went back on the car, and to my huge dissappointment I discovered it doesn't bloody fit!
The outer diameter is 8 mm larger (116 mm) than the OEM disc (108mm). This causes the widest parts to make contact with the gearshift lever and will not revolve.
They did respond to my initial contact, and told me I could have a shop shave of a few mm. Seems to me this will compromise the strength so I would rather return it - but now they are not responding.

Agree, 108-110mm is max otherwise it will already hit the gear selector rod under stress. I would definitely not tamper with the item, they do need to take it back.
Maintain a friendly tone in your e-mails and remind them on a daily basis. If they do not respond within a few days I suggest we name and shame them here on the forum and in the Facebook groups as a warning to other possible buyers.

Thats to bad, not cheap to, so I understand you're pissed off. They should take it back. But it looks more than 4 mm that you need for clearance?

Any response from them yet?

Very sorry to hear this. I've ordered a short shift kit from a company that is supposed to make excellent quality ones, but there customer service is awful. I hope I don't live to regret it!
In addition to criticizing in public, are you not covered by any laws? At least in the U.K we have the Sales of Goods Act to protect consumers from scenarios exactly like this and paying by credit card can also provide protection. Hope it works out anyway.

Yeah it's a bummer. I like to support the smaller businesses when I can, and I am sure the quality is good.
Still no word back from them. Last email from them was 9 days ago and have sent them 5 friendly reminders since.
So today I put a complaint in through paypal - hopefully that will help.
uwbuurman: 8mm needs to go, which means shaving off 4mm. I think the angle of the photo makes it look like you would need more.
Reckon I'll order the disc from ireland engineering - what do you guys think?

1. I suggest we give them some negative attention here and on Facebook, they could at least respond to your messages!
2. why are you considering every option except the dealer? Even though I rate IE's quality highly I wouldn't want to run the risk of another bad product that has the same quality as WN or Meyle. Sofar there haven't been any issues with oem.
3. keep in mind there are a few different sizes, if you want to order from someone else than the dealer make sure you know what P/N you need and have them confirm its size meets that P/N

I think it is only right to put some pressure on when things like this happen.
Well, the disc was €130 from the oem parts dealer here, and I was getting some other things from ireland anyway..
I made sure this time to have them confirm size measurements

Seems the paypal dispute thing helped.
Had a reply now, offering a full refund.
No need to escalate on facebook (I'm not on there).

I have no problem posting something like this on both the forum and Facebook:
Warning re Revshift flex discs
One of our members ordered a guibo from revshift.com after they guaranteed the disc would fit, but it is too large. Can happen, but Revshift are not responding to any communications. Because of this total lack of common decency we would like to warm other users

Did Revshift ever solve your issues? Otherwise we'll give them some unwanted exposure!

After I raised the paypal dispute, they refunded me the full amount. Only thing I heard from them was asking to close it immediately, but I am glad I waited till I had received the refund as they stopped replying to my emails (again).
Product seemed high quality, so the only negative is that they confirmed it would fit my 4 cyl E21 which it didn't.

Revshift is pretty sketchy IMO. I've seen a bunch of horror threads over on R3V... Good thing you got PayPal!

Yes - it's true there have been quite a few horror stories about the Revshift guibos over there.
The new Poly ones, like the one pictured in this thread are meant to be improved over their previous aluminium versions, but I have only read of one forum member on r3v who had used one "successfully", although later in his thread, his flywheel worked loose twice and he ended up wrecking his motor (back of the crank destroyed)?!
