Hello! has anybody used it in their e21?? preparing for E30 M10B18i swap, and wondering if this is the way to go ? I have two fuel lines under car, so rather than cut one and install el.fuel pump under car -which I dont have the bracket for-it would be easier for me to just install the in-tank pump from IS?? the o-ring seal is the same as per realoem...thanks for any insight!! Roman

Not sure specifically about the iS, but the 318i E30 pump definitely fits I think - that's what I used when I switched to injection. As you mentioned, you'll need a return fuel line too.

although your fuel gauge will be slightly wrong as it makes the first quarter mark "nearly empty"

Also helps if you take the fuel pump wires from an e30 too. for the plugs

yes it has a return line on it. the rest of the e30 models don't.

Quick follow up question on this (and in reference to M52 swap): is this the correct pump?

Just to confirm what has already been said, yes they do fit, I have one in mine for my M20 swap.

They can be expensive, as they're sought after.

What differences are there between in-tank E30 fuel pumps? Not too many issues I guess? Pressure on all should be pretty much ok or? Return line is not needed as the E21 tank already has one, right?

I understand that a fuel pump from an E30 will fit - however E30s came in many different incarnations (M10 M20 M40...) and probably with different pumps. I am trying to verify which one will fit, if not all.

You asked if the E30 318is fuel pump will fit, which I'm saying yes, it does.

You have a fuel return line on your E21 from the sounds of it, only the 318is fuel pump has a port for the fuel return line, so while various other E30 in tank fuel pumps might fit, they won't have the ability to return fuel to the tank, so they are of no use to you.

The same pump was used on the 316i M10, 316i M40, 318i M40, and the 318iS M42 - in two different models from 03/1988 on:
