Quick power steering question?

Just a quicky but just bought some ATF to top up the power steering... But on the power steering reservoir it says only use brake fluid and it seems as though there is still some brake fluid in there! :-/

What shall do...stick with the brake fluid?

Thanks

John

Are you looking at the right tank?! Correct label on it as well? Never seen brake fluid in a power steering system!

Think so :-/..... It's the small reservoir Inbetween the large water reservoir and the dash / steering wheel... If that makes sense? Thanks

Not really :P on RHD cars the brake booster and brake master are right behind the right headlights, the brake fluid is in a white plastic tank right next to the windscreen washer fluid. Power steering fluid tank is right in front of the fusebox and is made of metal.

Hi,

CAN'T FIND IT!! IT'S NOT THERE!! Lol e_surprised

Can't take pictures at the moment. Need to sort out photobucket, which I will do today...

Hope we are talking about the same engine Jerome? Mine is rhd 320 carburettor...

To say... If you looking at the engine... In the right hand side from headlights going back... You've got brakes master plus reservoir... Then water reservoir for radiator.. Then, what is to believed is the brake booster ( not power steering reservoir, like I originally thought!! :/) on the opposite side to that is the screen wash tank... In front of that is fuse box ( behind head light)....

Hope this makes perfect sense lol!!

Aurgh!! Hope. I have power steering!!

Thanks

Thanks Gerwin...

Would it be in the same place, as the picture shown is an injection engine... mine is a 320/6 1982 carburettor version

If so, mine is not there!!! :/

Very puzzling!

Sorry, thanks for your help it's much appreciated

Thanks

John

As far as I know they are always in the same place. Hence, it is likely you do not have power steering...

If the metal container (as Thegs's pictures) isn't there the car probably has no power steering fitted. It was an optional extra so not fitted to all cars.

The pot you are talking about with brake fluid in it between the turret and the bulkhead will be the clutch reservoir.

Ahhhhh you're right with the brake fluid reservoir so far away there is a separate clutch reservoir... we don't see too many RHD cars here!
