Pierburg 2B4

I have an 1982 316 Auto with the Pierburg 2B4 carb - my mechanic was investigating a rough starting issue and noted that it had an air leak which was causing it to run rich.

Where can I get a gasket/service kit for one of these and fast?

All help is appreciated!

Bin it and buy a weber would be my advice. Not sure you can get service parts for the pierburg anyway, but the weber is a massive improvement!

Compared to an old carb and fresh carb will give a huge improvement just like fresh shocks always amaze you. But that doesn't make the 2B4 impossible. Don't Ruddies Berlin have a kit for those?

Thanks for the link. Am I right in guessing that I'll loose the auto choke with a replacement kit?

I'm not sure, when I webered my old 316 I did. The auto choke is a bit bobbins anyway, anyone capable of driving an e21 should be able to pull a little knob in the dash and push it back in once warmed up a bit!

Just remember to connect all the wires up, it won't work otherwise as I found out!

I found these guys to be helpful and knowledgeable in my days of owning a T3 Transporter with a Pierburg.

Ended up ordering a service kit from Eastern Europe which worked a treat. My mechanic gave it a full service and now shes driving much better.

On a side note I also found Webcon in Ashford (after I placed by order) who had parts and knowledge - will use them the next time I need anything.
