Cylinder head skimming

Hi all,the haynes manual says that a thicker head gasket MUST be fitted if the head is skimmed on the 320/6.Is this true and if so is it a clearance issue or ignition issue?
My head will probably be having a light skim while it is off due to leaking head gasket.Head currently measures 125.2 so fairly sure it hasn`t been done before.Any comments appreciated.

I think the answer is "yes".

Skimming the head will change your valve timing. You can get an adjustable pulley to sort that out though.

Valve clearance would be your other problem. I'm not sure if it's a real problem though.

No issues if the head is being skimmed for the 1st time, a slight skim does not immediately require different gaskets or an adjustable cam pulley.
