piston rings

Hey Guys,

As I'm in the process of rebuilding my M20 from the 323i, I'm renewing the piston rings. Now the original oil control (scraper) ring was in 2 pieces; the ring it self and the coil ring which sits inside it. I've bought kolbenschmidt sets to replace those, however the oil rings are of a 3piece design( coil sits between 2 rings as opposed to one) and I've been told they aren't the originals and will not be as effective. Is this correct or should I just fit. I bought them from a renown supplier but not from BMW GB.

Really appreciate any advice.

Many thanks

Vic

That would be brilliant mate, I had been told Goetze would be good choice, will return the KS I've got. Also did you replace the con rod bolts as well? Been told don't need to, just unsure as I would prefer to know they're secure. thank you again!!

I replaced the bolts with the original BMW new ones yes, in comparision to the engine costs, the bolts were cheap. I bought also the original con rod bearings from BMW.

about the store, it closed on ebay a while ago, was searching through the history of my buys and its no longer existing.

measure the original rings, but this should fit...
