Flexdisc/Guibo help

Hi guys..

I'm after a little help, I am in the process of putting a manual conversion from a 323i into my auto 320/6. I am looking to replace the flexdisc as I do so.

The question is:-
I can find two sizes of 8-hole flexdisc one with a PCD of 76mm and one with a PCD of 78mm. I have measured the flange of the propshaft and the gearbox to the best of my ability with my verniers, it looks like the PCD is 76mm BUT the flexdisc that came with the manual conversion seems to measure 78mm?? Is this because they expand with age and after installation when the metal band is removed? Is this a 76mm flexdisc or a 78mm?

I THINK I need the 76mm version but I'd like clarification before I risk wasting money on the wrong size!

I don't know the year of the 323i that the conversion came off, sorry!

Any help is apprecaited as this is going to start holding up the conversion.

Cheers

Hi Capper,

Kick myself for not measuring these, but maybe this thread will help a little

Thanks, it confirms my suspicions that I need to replace it!

But i'm still unsure as to what size I need to get!

When I decide on what size to get, most likely from BMW

As long as you stick to the known brands like oem, febi-bilstein or likewise you should be fine, but beware of cheap fakes

I seem to remember the older style discs are delivered with a steel band/clip around them to aid when fitting.
After fitting it gets removed and the disc expands. Could be the difference in measurements?

I could also be wrong.
