Classic Bavaria radio connections

All, I found a neat Bavaria radio-cassette, analog model, reverse, nice and complete machine that appears to be in a more than decent connection. However, how do I power it? Don't want to blow anything. On the housing it says negative chassis so the chassis connection on the right below is where to negative wire is supposed to go. Leaving two wires, a black one that is fixed to the radio and has half a fuse holder at the end. The other one is white, detachable, just a short wire that may have been hooked up to instrument lighting or a power antenna. That's my feeling, the black one is +, the other one power output or something. Before blowing a wonderful piece of antique up, can anyone confirm this? Thanks in advance!
Other connections:
- DIN cable for aux inputs
- 2x DIN speaker connectors

Hi Jeroen,
Can you tell us the complete name of the radio? Maybe I have a manual for it somewhere...
The BMW Bavaria radio's I know (Bavaria S, the Bavaria Stereo and a few recent models), haven't got a fixed wire on it... normally they have three connections:
- negative (-) (as you wrote, on the housing of the radio (nearby a screw))
- positive 12v (+) connection
- and a connection for the antenna remote.
Because of the fuse holder, I would say the black wire is for the 12v + and the white wire for the antenna remote.
grtz.

This one was an odd one to me as well, believe it doesn't carry a model name but I'll check again and otherwise I'll add a photo. Looks to me like one of the Philips produced unites instead of the regular Blaupunkt examples. But your guess is the same as mine at the moment haha

Now I'm even more curious about the radio
It's correct that -besides Blaupunkt- Becker and also Philips delivered units for BMW (and later on also Pioneer).

maybe you can open it up and get a close up pic of the internals? that way it might be easier in deciding which wires are for what...

Already tried but the power connectors all go into a funny tin can that can only be removed by taking the entire unit apart, and believe me I've taken a few of these babies apart. Otherwise it would be a lot easier indeed.
