Your local BMW dealer will bea ble to tell you the date the car was built from the chassis number

note your VIN number from the chassis (in plain sight under the bonnet) and 'decode' online.

if you put your vin (serial number) in the parts search on real oem bmw it will tell you the model, year, month of build ect of your car...also if you are very lucky you might have a build sheet in the springs under the base of the back seat ...my vin comes back as a december 75 build...

You can look it up based on VIN, several on line tools but data especially on the older versions is harder to find on line. You can also order a certificate of authenticity from BMW Classic
