Facelift Dash into Pre Facelift Car?

As per title really!

I have a 79 320/6 with a badly cracked dash that i want to replace, but can only seem to find facelift dashboards for sale.

So the question is, will a facelift dash fit my car relatively easily? it looks like they have different heater controls, and the dashes are moulded slightly differently because of this. To be honest I prefer the look of the later dash, but i'm worried i might open a can of worms regarding the heater matrix and vent system...

Has anyone done this swap themselves? or should i just hold out for a good preface dash?

Its not just the heater controls but also the vents in the dash requiring you to chop up the metal behind the dash. A lot of work!

Wow, not what I was wanting to hear! Do they have different support brackets etc then, or does the sheet metal of the firewall/scuttle actually change on a facelift?

Looks like it would be possible to swap the preface control panel into a facelift dash, but then the passenger would be left with an ugly vent that doesnt even work

I sold somebody an early dash with only two very small cracks about a month ago. I don't think they have anything to put it into yet, can see if they want to move it on if you're interested?

I did that once, without any problem, not required any metal work. I changed to complete facelift dashboard with heating panel, radiator and heating valve.
