Hi I have A 1979 E21 320/6 e21 with a solex auto choke unit. Just started rebuild and lost my wire diagram. There are two small wire connector spades on the top of the domed choke body. Does anyone know what wires connect to these?
Bit of a long shot
cheers

No long shot.
You're wiring for the carb is not that difficult. Je have two connectors for your idle valves (I think in 1979 it was two wires for each in one connector)
Under the chokebody you have a one wire connector (90°) for the thermotime slide. The other one is for the choke body you mention.
The folowing topic has the original setup in PDF.(all carbs used in the E21)

Hi,
I have the same car as you, and am not happy with the auto choke system, as cold starting is slow and needs a lot of throttle-pumping to get the engine to fire, and idle is erratic until warmed up. I guess the carb needs sorting, it looks fiendishly complex so I don't want to make matters worse.
Any advice as to what to check would be gratefully welcomed, and where and what new parts have been obtained?
I can photo my carb if you need help to reconnect, let me know.
Cheers
Mike

The problem with the 4A1 is indeed after a few days standstill it needs a long time cranking before there is petrol in the carb.
Normally it runs smooth when cold. Problem is often fouling in the carb and not working properly of all items of the automatic choke. They must work all together or it does not work at all.
