The unloved 93JRL7
Hi, my name is Chris and I'm from Hamburg/Germany.
I bought that "thing" standing for years trying to find a new owner.
Yes, the interior is not in best condition, but it's existing...
Engine is running and the paintjob done is not that bad...I've seen worse...
I bought the car as a project. Registration as a historical car was my first aim.
That for, we fixed a lot to get it back on the road.
The VW-Navigation unit was thrown away and a new heater control unit was built in.
Those "I'm a porno pipe fan" mufflers were swaped to 323i originals for now...
We had to buy a complete new ignition...
The tyres were...I think they were more standing than driving...
So, now I will drive it for 2-4 years, and then fully restorate the car.
Please don' t ask, if it will become an Alpina replic again...I don't know...one thing I know is, it will become a M30B35 from an early E34...
And now hands on the keyboard and write, that You never ever would have bought this car...

Ah, You bought it!
I have tried to speak to the former owner, but he wasn't very polite.
So I didn't had that much interest.
Nice to have this car here.
please give all the updates!
Reserve 24-06-2017 for the Sharknosemeet!

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far you take the wall with you.
Re: The unloved 93JRL7
Last weekend I flooded the car with Fluidfilm, to keep at last the condition it has...some weldings are really spooky, but in general it's a great basis. Engine has to learn running again...but it's gettin' better and better...

Re: The unloved 93JRL7
Welcome here Chris, and congratulations as I believe the car wasn't too bad at all, with some nice goodies and proper contemporary tuned looks, but as Ite wrote the seller was more autistic than we all are here on the forum, overkill perhaps hence the communications didn't run smooth. But the car deserves a good home and by the sound of it it has found one now, nice plans, keep us posted on your updates. And yes, please come along with some more German E21 fans to the Sharknose Meeting on June 24 next year!
Regards/groeten, Jeroen

Thanks for Your polite welcome.
I'm really interested to get in touch with the sharknose community and try hard to make it possible to join the meeting.
I normaly restore old minis, but the quality of spares are gettin' worse and worse...
So I decided to buy the car of my "childhood". My Dad had a 318 from 78. He bought it from new in Nov. and we had great fun to drive it home...remember the winter of 78/79 with tons of snow.
So now it's done...
I'm not that hardliner with the oem-style, but it should be authentic and should fit the timeline and the car.
So, no 16 inch wheels, no 3" exhaustpipes, no extreme lowering, no modern bucketseats, no discothek or safety devices...
Next step should be the interior. Dashboard is in mint condition, no work on that at all.
Now there is mounted an old Hella steering wheel... I like it, but it's nearly worn down like the seats...
Big point...the recaros, they need to be covered completely. I think about black leather.
Another point is the electric fan. They mounted the M30 really close to the frontpanel...( no need to do this ) and the big electric fan is that close to the grille, that it makes a horrible noise if working. Think about a thin spal fan for the driving period. 385mm should fit.
Need to mention, that the e21 has a 4shift gearbox... no problem for me, I'm a cruiser type of driver, no racer, but it would be great to have a 5shifter again...small problem will be to find one with the speedo connection... they are rare and expensive...

P.S.: No, I didn't drive it home, I picked it up on a trailer, but I got the chance to have those export numbers to drive it for two weeks here in germany. Biiiiiiig help to get it on the road again. Here You have to make APK to get those shorttime registration for 4 days...

Just a few hours ago I had to buy a new battery... the old one was not even too big, it was nearly 12 years old and died with the new unknown movements of the car...Even my startingproblem is blown away... haha...

Hi guys (and girls?),
after the reanimation process is progressing, the first seals are broken...this time it was the clutch cylinder at the pedal... very normal I think for the time my E21 was standing...

Haha, dass sollte kaum ein Winterfarhzeug heißen, nicht?
Well, drives nice doesn't it? On monday I'll be in Hamburg. You had some floods over at the harbour, I believe?

Yes, indeed.
I'm just kidding...
So, You drive the big water vacuum?
It drives great. Not bad for a small m30...
