Hi all

I am on the hunt for information on e21 steering rack swaps/interchanges on a budget but it's proving rather difficult. My current PS rack is leaking and rattling and rebuild might not be entirely possible. So far I have only found the http://www.steering-racks.co.uk/ offer an option, but utilising it will cost me an arm and a leg. I have found some suggestions that e28 rack might work but nothing conclusive.

Does anybody know of any other (preferably bmw) racks that may work? Are there any semi modern bmw's that had rear steer racks?

Just a few topics down there was a discussion about power steering and options to fit electric as an alternative here. No simple swap options afaik, but please try the forum's search option as well. E21 has rack & pinion and E28 uses a steering box with pitman arms so that surely won't fit, but even other models that use rack & pinion like E30 or E36 are designed more or less mirrored so that may require a lot of fabricating as well. It may be a lot easier to source another E21 rack, enough around used or overhauled.
