Not tried swapping sumps or anything like that, but I seem to remember when fitting a complete E30 engine to an E21 the winged E30 sump gets very close to the subframe on the fusebox side of the engine bay, RHD by the way.

Afraid that's the best I know about 4 pots :bag

Haha knowledge is limited here as well, but that indicates the subframe could be in the way indeed.

Hi Jeroen,

it fits. Last year a guy here showed me some pictures from his m10 swap with an e30 m10 oil pan. Because I had asked him the same question. He wanted to sell me an e30 pan, while I was looking for an e21 type.
It works, but it was too close to the subframe in my opinion, so I decided to go for an e21 pan.

Thanks, I will pass on this info. Car is only used on the track and has solid engine mounts so there won't be much chance of movement (compared to regular rubber mounts) so it might just work. With rubber bushings I wouldn't take the risk myself either.
