Hi,
anyone know if there are various E21s (4 cyl, 6 cyl, pre facelift/after facelift) diff gear ratios? Are there different diffs for different engines/year models and in that case what cars have what ratios?

Ever heard of that funny website bmwe21.net? Lots of specs there like for pre facelift http://www.bmwe21.net/?page_id=295 and facelift http://www.bmwe21.net/?page_id=282 including diff ratios. Final drive is independent of the gearbox fitted.

hehe might have heard of that website. great stuff was only searching in the forums though but the "normal" website is absolutely great i have now learned..
