Rev counter connection

Hey guys,

Wired up the 323 over the weekend, 90% is connected.. I got stuck on connecting the rev counter up, there's a white plug with a brown wire (earth) and 2 violet/white wires attached, and they both end up below the instrument panel next to the headlight switch; both have female plugs.

Does anyone have any clue as to where these connect to? Been scraping my hands under the dash to locate any points they're supposed to be attached to, but had no luck.

Would appreciate any help, thanks!

Vick

I think maybe for front fog lights and headlamp wash/wipe possibly, I have neither on mine and seem to remember finding plugs similar. I can have a look and advise later, sure I had to consult wiring diagram to confirm. What year is your 323?

Thanks for the quick reply bud.. I have connected the rear fogs, along with the rear window demister and head lights. The pair of connections in question are a pair violet with white striped, terminating in to a female plug; one of these wires is connected to the rev counter via white T shape plug. There's also a brown earth beside the pair of vi/wh cables to make the circuit.

My cars an Oct '82 S Edition, and has the green striped rev counter. I've searched the Haynes and Bentleys manuals, but can't get my head around it. Thanks for helping, appreciate it!
Thanks, Vick

From Haynes wiring diagram. Vi/W is for brake lamp switch and radio connections. Fuse no 12.
Rev counter connectors should be a pair of Grn/W , a pair of Brwn and one black wire.
Hope this helps for now, not able to get to my garage to physically check yet.

Ok, so I had a visual check on that plug on my car, its not connected to anything, cloth tape around plug which I think meant it was originally taped on dash support frame just below instrument panel.
I cant find these wires in haynes diagram and cant think what they may be for either. So my best guess is they are spare and not to be worried about or maybe once my car resprayed I find myself in same boat as you...
I hope its not the latter of the two. :whistle

I thought all the connections to the instrument cluster were fairly simple - you couldn't mis connect them. Might it be worth pulling the cluster out and checking the back of it rather than fumbling in the dark ?
