Hi all,

I’ve encountered a problem. The spring clip (P/N 34211150163) that holds the calliper to the bracket was missing from both sides of my car when I got it.

I have just gone to refit my callipers since being refurbished and I’ve found out the spring clip is No longer available.

Any ideas anyone?

A friend of mine had the same issue, he found that Porsche 914 calipers have a near identical spring that can be bent to fit. I don't know where you can get the Porsche spring as it was provided by the reconditioner who just happened to have a pair in stock.

Who says it's not available?

In the US both turnermotorsport and ecstuning have it. It turns out to be a BMW motorcycle part as well.

Have you tried through a dealer? Usually bmwfans.info is rather correct about the availability and that site says it is there.

Thanks for the lead on the Porsche callipers I’ll look into it.

My Local dealership says its NLA, also bmw classic shows it and unavailable.

and just because ECS and turners say they have it, does it actually mean they have it in stock? or would just try to order it on demand themselves?

Don't think ECS have them as they pretty much copy an outdated version of ETK afaik but Turner defo is worth the try. And so is Bigg Red from our own parts directory, they stock a lot of old gear see http://www.bmwe21.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5185

I might have a pair on my spare rear axle, I'll check and if there and good enough to use I could lend you them until you have new ones , to let you get it built up for now. If in the uk, try Linwar motors too.

I do have a pair of springs, stuckfast into carriers but fit for purpose, rather as try removing any further and risking weakening the spring integrity i could make both carriers available to you if required.

Thanks for the kind offer, but I have actually just resorted to making some using some reference photos and a stiff wire coat hanger (sounds dodgy but works perfectly). So I have solved my problem for the minute. although I did speak to BMW Classic as I thought it seemed like a silly piece to discontinue. they were not to particularly interested though as expected!
