Late March it was finally time to start tacking in the drivers floor. Really took my time with prepping this as I didn't want to cut too much out and end up with lots of patches.

fully welded

Also done a little repair to the rear floor and made a disc to plug the rear floor in the centre

It took a couple of weeks to complete this as I had a couple of hours here and there and my neighbours complained about the noise in the evening as they had a new baby

By April 5th this was where I was at ......

Seat mount back in, welding dressed back and primed :banana

This was a good point to get to I felt like a mile stone had been reached as it was time to start on the outer sill........ Due to family commitments, work etc it wasnt until June that I got back on it

The door went on for test fitting and loosely bolted up the wing

If I had to do sills on an E21 again I wouldn't buy the cheaper "oversills" again. They took quite a bit of fabrication and messing about to look and fit like the factory sills. A bit of inexperience and a lesson learned

Nice work, mate. And fully agree, dont use the "oversheet metal". That wont fit nice.

Yeah never again! I think my lack of experience made preserve with it. I’ve actually done both sides but will update accordingly

Then onto the passenger side. This was a bit easier as id had practised on the other side so had an idea of the steps to take....

cut off outer sill
cut out floor
repair inner sill
fit new floor and so on....

New metal going in

seems to be a lack of photos for this side :nah

and finished

quick repair to the rear floor and seat mount back in. Managed to achieve more of a factory look for the seat mount on this side. Due to shitty previous repairs on the drivers side i was unsure how it went in but this side hadn't been touched.

Thinking about it now I might even go back to the drivers side and re do the seat mount so both sides match and look more like they are factory fitted

The work on the passenger side takes us up to half way through September this year. Although not on the time line of the build thread I picked up this little gem the other day as was excited so thought Id share it ....

M20B25 90kmiles and has chipped ECU and Motec oil cooler. Heard it running and has loads of paper work with it
