I've been thinking.

If my current control unit transitorized ignition dies, and I got the old big box unit https://www.classicbmwparts.nl/en_GB/a- ... escription.
Will it be possible to use the new type https://www.classicbmwparts.nl/en_GB/a- ... escription by replacing the plug from the old to the new one? If it's possible to use the new one, where can I find the pin out for both unit?

Wow thats an expensive transistor module unit sold by classic bmw parts, i have one in my spareparts box and don't need it anymore. (It is for sale)

If you want to use the new type, i'll be able to figure out the pinout of the original module. But then you also need a suitable connector.

The old unit is very expensive, that's why I wonder if it would be able to convert to the new unit instead, since that isn't so expensive.
Getting the plug and rubber cover for it is no problem, those parts are still available through dealers in Norway and Denmark (KOED).

Don't worry about your transistor module failing, they are very robust.
