My 1981 316 1.8 has a Pierburg Zenith 2B4 carburettor and has the usual problems. I am thinking of replacing it with a Weber 32/34 DMTL conversion but I am a little worried where I will install the manual choke cable inside the car. I am reluctant to drill the dashboard as it is in perfect condition. I assume there are members that have done this conversion but I can't find any topics. Anyone got any good ideas please?

When you consider the 32/36 there are different versions. One with manual choke, one with an electrical and one with coolant. I ordered last year or something replacement parts for the water version at https://www.carbparts.eu/ and it worked like a charm.

I personally don't know the 32/34 but I can imagine that there are similar versions of that one.

I have to make a big decision! I want to keep the air cleaner assembly as original as possible ...

We’ll wait for Remy the Flemish to jump in. He has a 32/36 I believe and he left the air filter as standard as possible. I’ll have a quick search in his topic.

Hello,
I wanted to adapt the original aircleaner house to my weber32/36. But I ended up with double webers.
So I didn´t finish the job.
It is possible to adapt it if you are handy and you can weld a bit.
