M20 with Webcon intake and triple weber 45DCOE

Today I started to convert my carbureted 320/6 to a Triple weber 45DCOE setup using the Mangoletsi (also known as Webcom?) intake/inlet manifold. Upon initial inspection it seems the traditional intake studs with bolts off the cylinder head will interfere with the carb install. Anyone else have a similar setup and some guidance to share?

Welcome here Adam! I am sure we can help you, like with the eurospec headlights. It will be nice to get an proper introduction of yourself, because we like to know more about your Golf 320 and it's owner. Just curious. Oh, and we like pics. Lots of them.

I am going to convert my 320/6 into a weber setup but I will use the weber IDF 40. Otherwise you will get an issue with the brake booster.
I can use the standard bolts for the intake because they will not give any issues. My intake will be from VGS.

Thanks for the welcome Uwbuurman! I'm happy to find a worldwide following of my favorite car on Earth -the E21! I bought my first E21 in a used car lot in 1988, a 1981 320/6 that was white when I purchased it and polaris originally. I was 15 years old at the time, and expecting to be looking at a US 320i m10, the only E21 that (at the time) I knew existed. I was shocked to see a 6 cylinder and carburetor! Anyway that was well over 30 years ago. I drove the car until I could see through it in many places, with rust taking over. I found a 315 donor (another odd car here in the US) and I did a frame off full blown restoration with stroker engine rebuild in 1998. Since then, the car has had about 2500Km put on it. I put a Holley 4 barrel carb on at that time and never got it tuned in properly. With more time on my hands and kids moving out of the house, I now have some time to "play" again. I recently gathered the items to change to the webers to replace the Holley. In the process of researching the weber upgrade, I found a relatively original 1981 323i (this time I knew what I was shopping for :) ) and a US 320i with some clean doors to swap. That is the car with the minor lighting electrical issue. So I have purchased 4 E21s over the years with 3 of them being grey market cars. I have also owned an E30 325iX for a few years. As for pictures, I have many. I will have to figure out how to upload them and where the appropriate forum is.

Now that is a proper introduction! Very cool.

This is how you post pics. I think the 6 cilinder subforum is the place to put it, since the 320/6 is your main darling.

I've taken the time to make an off-site picture gallery, and it can be viewed at the following website:

Thanks to Jereon for making this site open to us all and keeping it going for so long!

I want to clear up a mistake I posted before... The intake manifold discussed in this thread is a Webcon manifold. The web-retail outlet that I purchased it from mistakenly told me that it was from Mangoletsi.

Aaaah thanks for the photos, and for the kind words.

Both brands are new to me but I changed the topic title so it refers to the correct brand name. Keep us updated sir!

Dave at Pierce Manifolds came through for me and machined down the heads on 14 SS Allen Cap Screws to allow me to continue with the Weber carb with Webcon manifold. He and I both were at a loss as to why the countersink diameter was so small. I will attempt to post a photo showing the typical screw(black left) and the machined screws (stainless right).

Above is a copy and past link. I still can't figure out how to post photos... :)
