Rear muffler for 323i

Does anyone know what is different between rear muffler left part up to 9/1981 and the muffler left rear from 9/1981, 323i?

The reason for asking this, is that I thought all 323i had the same parts regarding rear mufflers. But there seem to be 2 parts number for the left muffler, one up to 9/81 and one from 9/81 and up.
Part number up to 9/81 is 18121246664
Part number from 9/81 up is 18121175910
The muffler from 9/81 up is alot cheaper, than the other one...

When I bought my exhaust it was after market and no distinction between pre and post '81, so I expect that they both will fit.
Whilst I bought after market, nothing sounds as good as a genuine exhaust. One day.....

the 910 later exhaust has extra baffles to try and cut down the sometimes tinny noise of the 323i
