1981 E21 316 suspension the same as 318?

Hello
New owner and new forum person. Just bought a UK delivered (but been in Australia for over 20 years) 316. It has the 5speed box and 1.8 engine. To be registered it requires new engine mounts, front shock absorbers and tie rods. My question is will the same year 318 parts fit?
I am wishing to keep standard at this stage.

BTW, any recommendations for E21 parts and servicing in Melbourne?
Many Thanks
Phil

Welcome here Phil! Parts should be the same indeed, however there are 2 shock diameters around, most likely you have 45mm strut inserts, you can always measure the outside of the tube to be sure, should be around 50mm.

Feel free to make a little presentation of yourself and the car in the Owner's Gallery... and we love pictures!

Thank you both!
The car is at a mechanics and I do not have any pictures!
As soon as I do I will post.
The E21 requires a little rust removal around one jacking point and one sill, but otherwise is in good shape and very original except for the 14 inch gold BBS wheel and bluetooth CD player.
98k kms, Biscay blue.
Cheers
Phil
