I found this part listed in BMW's parts catalog. My car doesn't have one, and I'm unable to determine from the parts diagram, or by looking at my car, where it goes or what purpose it serves.
It's shown on RealOEM's web site as item #8:

Is anyone here familiar with this part? If so, if you could tell me where it attaches, or provide a picture of it, I would be very grateful.
It's listed as NLA by BMW, so I may have to improvise one if it turns out to be important.

I have one, it is screwed on the subframe and underneath the chassisbeam. It goes right over the steeringrod
