Please can one of you experts help. Recently sold one of my spoilers from my E21 1982 320 on Ebay. Guy saw all the photos, picked out the one on the right (no holes) we agreed a price and I shipped. He received today and accused me of cutting off the corners, misrepresenting it and not describing it properly. I have done no such thing. He has also admitted not seeing the photos properly and checking with me first and now wants his money back. I refused but Ebay protects the buyer. However, I want to check with you guys first looking at my spoiler and what he wanted. I know there are various designs but he got what I had and that was that. He insists mine has been tampered with. Your advice would be appreciated. Mine is the link above and the one below is what he was talking about AFTER he bought mine. Is mine a variiant of the one he was after?

First thing I would say is it's pretty clear from your pics in your advert that your spoiler isn't the same as the FOHA one in the second link you provided.

As far as I know, there have been a few different styles for the rear spoiler for E21's in period. From memory. the one you have in your advert on the right was very commonly found on cars in the UK, but you did see quite a few with the FOHA one with the little ears protruding also. I have had 2 E21's in the past with the spoiler from your advert.

As for refunding the guy, that's up to you, but he should have checked the item was the FOHA style prior to purchasing. If you had cut the sides off, it would be very obvious, but your spoiler was designed like that and it's different to the FOHA design.

Maybe someone else on the forum may chime in with some better details, but that's what I have.

Fully agree with Kam, completely different style of spoiler which is clearly visible on the pictures.

I have no choice but to refund this guy in full as he put reason for return unusable and not as described with the ends having been cut. He has shown me pics of mine which show signs that the ears were cut but not by me as this was as was when removed from my e21. Had a long painful discussion no argument with Ebay stating not my fault he didn't check photos or ask questions before buying. Even though it states returns not accepted it means nothing and if I refuse a refund ebays system will automatically kick in and take the full amount from my funds plus will get a bad rating. Absolutely no protection for seller!!

Every now and then you run into an idiot. Pity eBay is not able to judge this correctly.

From the photos is there anyone that can comment whether these rear spoilers came as standard like this without the lips? Thank you.
