I have been offered a set of Kolbenschmidt E21 323i pistons for sale.

Are these any good?

Top.of the line, it's either Kolbenschmidt or Mahle.

Thank you for the information. (My apologies for not thanking you sooner). It turns out that this set of pistons may not be for an E21 323i because the part number does not match the E21 323 piston number in the Kolbenschmidt classic parts catalogue.

Walloth & Nesch has a set of oversize pistons (+0.5) for sale. But looking at the pictures of these pistons (see link below), their size is 80.468mm, whereas the correct size (if I am not mistaken) is 80.48mm. Also the Walloth &Nesch part number does not seem to correspond with the equivalent part number in the BMW online catalogue.

I see on piston that they are Nural (brand)

Thank you for this information. The problem is that I won't need the new pistons for an another three years, when my car will be expected to undergo an engine rebuild at 440,000km, which is also the time the next timing belt change is scheduled (the last rebuild was at 204,000 km). The mileage now is 411,000 km. I think that, after consulting my long suffering mechanic (who is excellent but tells me he will die if he has to look after another old car), I should wait until the engine is opened up for a rebuild before deciding on a piston solution. Hopefully, I will still have piston options then.

I would suggest just buying them and have them laying around when needed. Parts like that never depreciate in value.
