Bilstein B8 Bump Stops

Hey guys, I hope everyone's enjoying their E21's!

I've just installed a set of Eibach springs and Bilstein B8 shocks on my '82 323i S Edition :boogie

Would be grateful for any advice about fitting of bump stops on the shock absorbers. I spoke with a rep from Bilstein UK today and he explained that the front shocks have the bump stops inside the tube from factory and therefore not required externally, and only needs the cover fitted is required, which comes with the shock absorber.

My query is about the rear set up, when I removed the Bilstein b4 shock absorbers from the car, they had the stops fitted externally but were beyond use after 22yrs fitted, and the B4s are the same as the stock shocks and required the bump stops.

Now when fitting the B8's, I'm confused whether the rear B8s (part number 24-184618) have the bump stops fitted internally and secondly if they also require a protective cover like the front shocks, as they were supplied with the shock.

There are bump stops available from Bmw and Bilstein for the B6 but there is no info on the compatibility with the B8.

Does any one have any experience or can assist me please?

I would be really grateful for any input.

Have a great day guys! :thnx

B8 do not have bumpstops fitted on the outside. They are inside of the tube. I am also running my car with B8's.

Thank you so much the clarification, appreciate it. :cheers
Did you also place a cover over the rear shocks, as is done on the front pair?
I'm concerned if it remains uncovered grit and debris will ingress and cause issues over time.

Thanks again :thumbsup

Hi Vic,

Quick question if you don't mind me asking, where did you buy your B8's (assuming you got them in the UK)? I'm looking to purchase a set (these are the shortened shocks correct) to go with my Eibach lowered springs too. Appreciate if you wouldn't mind sharing details and how much you got the set for.

Thanks,

Kam

Hey Kam, sorry for the late reply.

I bought the set of Bilstein B8 shocks from ML Performance.co.uk, they're based in Staines, Surrey. They arrived on time, with no issues. Good company to order with!

They cost approx £750-£800 delivered, fitted nicely into the struts, and with the Eibachs, they work well together.
I got the Eibachs brand new unused from Ebay, where did you get your set from if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks Kam

Thanks Vic, appreciate the update. Staines isn't far from me so will give them a shout.

I bought my Eibach's from a supplier in Holland who Jeroen recommended to me, cost me just under £300 including taxes shipped to the UK. I'll be looking to buy the Bilsteins and fitting the springs and getting them on the car over winter.
