My '75 318 baur restoration

Hello my name is Merte and I'm from The Netherlands. Last summer I bought myself a white e21 318 baur in a sorry state.
One of it's former owners had done some very poor DIY... Little patches of sheetmetal were welded all over the place and it has had a very bad repaint (from inka-orange to white

). At this moment the car is being restored and put back in to it's former glory. I've been looking on this forum for some time now and I've seen some very nice cars! I hope in the end my car will come close to some of those.
To view the pictures of my project look at:

As we speak the car is welded, painted and waiting for some brandnew tapistry. I'll update the album asap.
I'll put some pictures in this topic as soon as I've found out how to.

Hi there, welcome.... By the look of the pics, you are doing a great job!!! It`s gonna be sweet! Are you respraying it in the original color? Or white again?

Very nice, your right that car was in a sorry state i mut admit, with all the metal work done must hae took loooong to do, eitherway i was wondering after all the cutting and grinding of the rust here and there .. are there any original bmw metal work left? as its been heavily overhauled!

parts that have been replaced/welded are: doors (2nd hand), wheelarches (front right, back left and ricght), bootrim, windscreenrim, front spoiler and a large part of the floorpanels.
Repairing these was the biggest problem since BMW never made replacement floorpanels (I guess you know the problem). For the rest I have used "original BMW" parts.
Engine is ok (130.000 kms), It only needs some servicing (oil, sparkplugs etc), a new exhaust and the rubber coupling of the driveshaft is in a bad shape.

Thank you all!
Pictures of todays work:
I've chosen to put new, black tapistry in instead of the original grey one. It looks better in combination with the orange of the bodywork and the black of the seats. Besides, the original tapistry smelled like rotten mushrooms...
