Instead of stealing more place in Jeroens post another place in this forum, I will present some pictures of my project.

It's one of the 110 "produced" Peters Cabriolet. Originally 4 cylinders, but I am building a Turbo and Supercharged M50-engine with several modifications. Not much info on engine will be revealed at this moment, this is for now just chassis-pics.

Some of the pics are posted in another place here, but I listed them up again here to get a connection between the pictures here...

Front wheelhouses (both sides) ready to go off. I have already dismantled the right engine support bracket and frontplate. The frontplate seen under the car on the pic is the old one - non-original BMWpart. Off you go !!



Chassis just arrived from sandblasting, with 4 litres of epoxy-primer. Ready for dismantling !





Sorry, old picture - and baaad camera: But pay attention, I transplant E30 cab-parts into this chassis...



Here is a picture of Peters' work. To have this car approved as a cab, they had to build a frame under the car. It looks like shit if you ask me, but I am going to modify it someway, to make it both work better and look better.

It is very nice to have a frame with wheels, so that I can move the empty chassis.

I made sill stifners so if you done so far it's easy to ad it.
I used 3mm steel and it is enough and on cabrio body with engine you are planning it will be twice useful I think

Thanks, I feel kind of crazy sometimes - but I figured that if I was supposed to have a car in same condition as new (or like Jeremys..), I'll have to do it right first time.

Is that a link to a picture, Steve? I am not allowed to open it. I would very much like to see what your sill stifners look like. And YES, I need alot of stifners regarding the engine

That is obviously a full convertible e21, like the late e30 ones. You say Peter's made 110 of them, but what country is that in and during what years were they produced?

These look like the convertible e24 from Back to the Future, only smaller!

By the way did you get those lovely new panels from WallthNesch? Or do you know any other cheaper soucres where I can get hold of a new or good quality E21 bonnet from? You don't ask you don't get you see!

Every piece is bought from my local BMW-dealer. All parts original... Here in Norway, most chassis-parts have the same price as Walloth... And the price is delivered in my hometown, so I save the shipping from Germany. Right now, I am waiting for (just as nice ) left/right front and rear body sidepanels, and left/right front wheelhouse... All Original BMW-spareparts !! THAT will be nice too ! A-pillars with hinges, side members etc is already laying in my garage...

I am going on a 2 weeks vacation now, but I assume you will see some lovely pictures of a "black" (BMW-grounding-colour ) cab in a month ca... I hope...

Most chassis-parts are still aviable to the E21, and prices are "good" too. It is expensive when you count it all together ofcourse, but piece by piece is not that bad. Ex: rear body sidepanel - I assume in UK-pounds ca 200 pounds, inclusive shipping. Is that the same price as in your country?

The only thing that I do not know if my BMW-dealer could deliver is the window-frame (in front), but they have made an order - just to see if can be delivered.

Wow Pedi,

Didn't realise any BMW dealers still stocked original E21 parts. The prices you quote seem very reasonable. I went to BMW UK who then went on their little computer for 5 minutes, did an entire parts search of all the official UK BMW networks only to tell me they have no bonnets for an e21!
I will probably get it from WallothNesch for 330 euros although I'm sure I'd be able to get it cheaper from other places in Europe, including Norway like you say. I just wish my Norweigan was as good as your English is! Anyway thanks for the information, good luck on your project, and I'll post a pic in the gallery to show the work done on my E21 so far.

I forgot to mention... I have bought a new bonnet from my local dealer, and I did pay ca 185 UK-pounds for it (good gracious!! That was a biiig box !!! ). And for your info, none of the parts is stock here in Norway - parts come from BMWs centralstockholding in Sweden - and a few from BMW-Germany.

Ex: the rear bodypanels was not stock in Sweden, so parts came from Germany - then to Sweden - and then to Norway... Long way? heheh.. I do not care, the price I pay is the same, whether shipping-costs is from Norway, Sweden or Germany.

Information on this car is really hard to get. The company called "Fa Peters'" is located in Germany (Paderborn), I have tried to get contact with them, with no success. No one elsewhere tend to have that much info.

My car was build once upon a time before 1986 (I can't trace it earlier, since the Norwegian cannot find papers on my car older than 1986 - and in my registrationpapers, no actual dates is stated. Only the cab-convertion with TüV-confirmation.

I have traced a few of theese cars (there are several in little Norway), and everyone I have found is pre-80 and all exept one is 4-cylinder. the one with 6 cylindres is the famous and lovely blue-metallic one with the "Lumma-look" from Germany. I have communicated with that nice fellow (Michael Jünger) - and yes, it is "originally" a Peters cab - 1979 320 too but the Peters convertion was not made before late 1992.

Hi Pedi!

Have you considered injecting polyurethane (PU) foam into the chassis to stiffen the structure further? I did it with mine and it reduced the body flex/roll a fair bit. The stuff to use is a high density PU foam made by Weurth. (They do make different formulations - you should select the one that is formulated for structural rigidity).
