Hi all,
I have been prowling this forum since I bought the car and I finally received it today, so here is the first post.
1981 320/6, stored for the last 3 to 5 years at least.
It is completely original with turbine 13" alloys (even got 5 of them), sunroof (which I still have to figure out how to open) and 5 speed eco box.
The engine is 97k miles and runs incredibly smoothly.
Condition is not to bad, a few rust spots to look at before MOT (inners sill...) and a good thorough service should do it. The red paint is a bit tatty but that will be looked at later. The interior is all original and everything still works, electrics and all. Even the clock is on time!
I can't wait to go for a cruise.
Oh and I will post pics as soon as I figure out how to.

Very nice car,
Cool color, just needs a cleaning up.
And yes, unlike others, I like those M*DFL*PS on the car!
Greetz,
And have fun with it!

I think in this day and age of bling and 20" spinnies and all that jazz, someone should come out with some chrome mud flaps, they might look good on our E21's, what d'ya think Jim?
Nice car btw G-Man, there's a lot worse examples out there. Where about's in Surrey are you then?

Wow loads of emotion about mudlfaps here.
Two solutions really, I either get rid of them alltogether, or find a fourth one (rear right missing) and get them chromed... Mmmm got me thinking
Sorry for the originality obsessed but I think with the lowering planned that will not look too cool scrapping tarmac. Will stay on 13" though.

Thanks for the comments guys.
I am in Redhill, and no I am not living on a farm but stange animals can be seen crawling in the flat on boozey nights...
I just want to get it sorted to start driving it for good, before going for more extensive modification...
If any of you has nay tips on where to look for hidden nasties I am all ears.
Regarding engine I know about the timing belt being a MUST DO, but I am not sure about maintenance for the carb. Any clues?
Cheers

Well it does certainly run, and rev although I have not pushed it. It does not hold iddle but nothing new there, needs a tune.
What a sound!

If your car runs good, when warm and is willing to start when cold, then dont mess with the carb, its a pita!
There are a lot of topics about the solex carbs on the "technica" part of this forum, so maybe the can help you out.
Nice original car btw, looking forward to see more pics!
Good luck with it.

sorry to thread jack, but, you know these solex carbs............ (i did do a search a couple of weeks ago buyt ran out of patience after 20 mins and gave up)
it idles ok when stone cold, then as its warming up it idles very low, nearly stalling but doesnt, then idles fast when hot........... go figure!!
but more annoyingly..........
it seems to run out of puff over 4500 revs......... think this is down to the two big flaps not opening on top of the second venturies, they seem to be vac operated on a little actuator mounted on the side. this doesnt work as the vac unit is knackard (doesnt work when you suck on the pipe) also the actual mech. that works the flaps is very stiff anyway.
i got a spare carb with the car when i bought it, the vac unit is split on this too tho the flap mech is free...........
any advice?????
im doing a drift day next weekend on the carb, but hopefully fitting motronic disposable cash pending in a few weeks........

I have had loads of trouble with my carb onmy 320/6. Once it turned out to be the control unit, as in #1 on the next pic.
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=12&fg=10
The car would just stall at about 4000 rpm.
