Hi, finally got round to sorting out that photobucket nonsense so here's a few pictures of my new motor if anyones interested.
Its pretty much all standard other than a 731 head we banged on not long ago.
Hopefully going down the Motronic conversion path with loads of help from members off this forum.
Cheers. :D

mmmmm, thats a nice looking car. you should be proud!

do you know much of the history on it?

infact that would make an interesting thread??
each of us posting up as much of the history on our cars as we know about................. :?
tho i would say that, being as all i got with both my e30 and e21 bms were just the cars and the keys..............

Yeah Murran i love the thing to bits.
Like you, i dont know much beyond what i was told when the keys were handed over. I was certainly not told the full story as ive had various problems to deal with so far but its all good other than that f*** solex at present.
The fella i bought it from sold on behalf of a mate (apparently!) that bought the car as a daily drive but moving jobs meant he couldnt use it anymore. The guy before that was the origional owner who kept her in a garage for pretty much all its life. Which is very believable as the body and paint are pretty mint other than a few notorious spots. Have loads of receipts and parts that came with it but other than a BMW service history up until around 1999 not much else other than mot certificates. Engine and gearbox are solid and sound with no rattles or dodgy noises. You can tell it was looked after.
Origional asking price was 2k on Ebay but there wasnt much interest in it, the fella dropped the price to 1200 before the sale ended. I happened to be able to go the following day to view before anyone else and i shoved the deposit into the guys face. Love at first sight you may say. Its a lot of car for that kinda money.
Anyway couldnt be happier with it at present and as you guys know im banging the whole motronic guts in it soon so it'll be awsome !
Thanks to all those who have helped me out so far.

No, not just yet mate. Im still after a few bits. Got my eye on a pump at the mo but i need those cooling pipes and blanking off things you told me about. Kinda in the middle of moving at the mo too so its all been put onto the back burner for the time being.
Im trying to get the missus to reach into her pockets and buy a car so i can use it too for when the BM's in bits :D
Will certainly be calling on your for guidence once it does go ahead so dont go leaving the country.
How is yours doing, is it all running as it should now, and can you notice the power difference ??

well it starts first turn of the key, definatly revs up freely, and idles lovely, but i havent driven it anywhere yet...... apart from up and down the drive (20 meters). as its not tested taxed or insured, im guna pinch the trade plates from work at some point before the nxt drift day, have a good drive in it.

Yeah let me know how you get on. Im interested in finding out all the faults ( not saying yours will have any! ) with this kind of conversion.
Im dying to get cracking on with mine but i have to sit on my hands for a while until i find some more transport and a place to do it all.

Just thought id update my gallery page while im sat here bored.
Got my -60mm Spax kit on recently and so far am happy with the looks and result. Many other mods in the pipeline and a garage full of parts, just need the weather to start being kind to me on my days off. Next stop will be some 323i calipers on the front and a new 38DGAS weber carb. Was going motronic but decided to put that on hold for a while, will probably buy an E30 when i have the brass and swap as much as possible over. It will be getting a full respray when ive robbed the bank in town.
On the hunt for a nice set of 15's too so if anyones got something nice, gimme a shout.

Well, the cars in semi retirement at the mo and is training hard for a comeback tour next month. Just got a new job, which ive had to buy a van for (always wanted a van! Is that sad??) and i cant afford to be running the BM and the van awsell so ive taken it off the road. I feel very guilty just leaving it sat there but i should be able to get all the bits on ive been meaning to do for a donkeys!
I dont think they particularly like each other but they'll just have to get on now wont they!

I was going to say that it's because you have no back seats in yours, but last time I saw Gonzo's car there were none in there either!

i must have the wrong springs. even with 4 e21 steel wheels with tyres on, in the boot it doesnt sit like drgonzos!

what part number/info does it say on your actual springs themselves?

by DrGonzoPOW
Er.....'Rear' dont think there was any other info other than that on the back springs. It does make a difference putting the seats back in and ive got a spare wheel in there too which you dont ??
I personally wouldnt mind it being slightly higher, people rave on about the camber being better but i think it looks a bit daft with the wheels slanted out the back and i bet tyre wears a bitch after a few hundred miles. May go for the -40mm one day. First port of call is getting my lovely RH wheels re-conned when i get some money
