A 316 prosject from Norway...

About time I've made a tread of my 1982 BMW E21.

I was inspired by Mike Valder's very good looking 318i for a few years ago.

Image

So when this one arrived in the neighbourhood I was sold... (the car also :P )

Image

The car was left behind by a german some years ago and it was an 1982 316 automatic with only 82000 km.

Image

This car was well equipped to be an 316, tinted window, el.mirrors on both sides, pop-up windows at the rear, org. radio ++++

Image

I have some experience building VW-Audi's so this should be a breath of fresh air and the possibility to do something diffrent.

I really enjoyed the color of this BMW but it was 1 problem. Since this was an german car I couldn't get it approved for norwegian roads, in fact this car was illgal in Norway...

But hvite indicators was bought to start with...

Image

I also bought some bbs-wheels on this forum, but the was placed on this car kalled "Joppe" instead.

Image

The car has beed stored inside until I decided what to do with it, the answer came earlier this year then I was contacted by a guy who wanted to sell his 82 316.

He needed some parts from it, but since I had the other BMW it was ok. I now had an Norwegian car with only small rust and 109 000 km on the meter.

The color on this one was Savannah-beige, not perfect but it will do...

Image

Just before I went up north to my hometown I decided to send it to the painter, and today it's finished.

I'm gonna put all the good stuff from the other BMW and 60/60mm suspention and BBS Replica's with gold senter is on it's way.

Here is a pitcure right before paint... :)

I need new seats for the car, one option is to change the seatcover on the orginal seats but if I have to change seatcover I could find a set of Recaro's who fit the car...

Anyone?

I choose to make some small mods on the car...

First was to remove the doorlocks on the doors...

Image

And the BMW-logo is gone...

Image

Green windows from the german partcar, this even have popout windows at the rear...

Image

The wheels who gonna fit this car is BBS RS Replica's...

Fantastic, to day I went to an local BMW-dealer for parts and was looking for some clips to fit the lists on the side of the car.

What I didn't know was that they still produce new parts for the E21, så instead of using a few euros I spend over 1000 euros on the car.

Brand new original bumper was one of the items, and I think it gonna be more parts...

A 316 with only 40 000 km on the meter was also visiting the dealer...

Image

Today the interior from the part-car was taken out...

Image

Looks like I need a new carpet, this one is on the way to nature again...
Anyone who have a carpet in beige who's in good condition on stock?

Image

Not much left inside now...

Todays update...

Today's update...

The belts for the backseats is fitted very nice in the car, so nice that it was almost impossible to get them on place from the part car to the project. :x

Image

Washing parts...

Image

While I wait for the brand new center-grill I tested this one on the car, look very good with debaged BMW badge.

Image

Chrome-mirrors is not available for this model? Or?

Image

I thinking of a small modification on the engine as well, not much but a camshaft, weber's and exhaust will do... 8)

Looks like it´s going to look GREAT.. Would NOT choose the BBS replica´s, though. It is unfortunatly very obvious they are replicas, even on a distance.

The color is awesome... nice with something different :D

Today's update...

The tinted windows are on, it looks much better with the green windows...

Image

This BMW didn't have the pop out windows originally, so I wasn't sure if the car was prepared for the change. But BMW had done a good work preparing the car, actually I'm really impressed... :P

Image

Another problem was that the previous owner for some reason I don't know has taken the brackets to fit the seats away...

Image

So here we go again, got help from my friend Andrew for this...

Image

The fenders, grill and indicators are mounted...

Image

And I won some auctions on ebay, the recaro sets was the most imported part. Bought from Stephan on this forum and he also had a new carpet to me... It's almost like Christmas today...

Last piture...
