I might of posted this up on a different part of the forum, but I thought I'd actually create a thread for it. This was bought for a bargain price, it's been restored ten years ago and left in a dry bodyshop. The good news is that it's had a respray and is in brilliant condition, the bad news is that it's completely caked in filler dust from the bodyshop work!

SPEC:
E30 325i engine, on K jet :?
LSD
Recaros from another car
dogleg
Alpina steering wheel
Various bits of bodykit
PAS

Work to be done:
Rip of the K jet, fit 325i motronic
clean and hoover the damn thing!
Empty tanks and fire up
Fit new roof (bought)
Refit interior
Lower 8)
MOT, tax, insure

I haven't done much to it to date because all my car time has been spent on my black M50 project. But I've got as far as taking the roof and front struts off. Last night though I decided to get the K jet off. I've decided to spend some time on this, since it won't take anywhere near as much time and money as the M50 and I want an E21 for the summer. More progress soon.

I won it on ebay, my maximum bid was what I considered the diff and the dogleg to be worth - £700. This way if the car was rotten I could get my money back. Turns out to be better than mint, albeit caked in dust, which is going to be a nightmare to shift. I won it for £520 IIRC. Once this is finished, it will be worth considerably more. Something I'm keeping in mind since I might want to buy an MX5 in the future 8)

Hmm... I never had a "nice" car before, so this will be quite a learning curve in this department. I've owned my E30 318is for a year and a half - never washed it. My dad did take pity on it a year ago though! Tempted to clean the IS though, I covered it in diff oil by accident.

We sold our MX5 last month. They're fun but the novelty wore off as I'm just too big for them at 6' 3.

I just think Baurs are excellent value and their time is going to come. I get loads of nice comments whenever we take mine out. We're going to take both of them to the Ace cafe next week. 8)

I've noticed just how much better Baurs feel with uprated shocks. The Bilstein set-up on Hans - my girlfriend christened it  - is firm but not too hard and it feels really well planted. A lot less scuttle shake too! :D

Doesn't look nice  Very curious how it looks after a thorough clean!

Could you tell me the Baur-number?

Indeed, like trainspotting. Look at my webpage and you'll understand.

And then I also like to look in this list, how it was when new:

And before you start to count: I now have 253 E21 TC1 in my registry. That's 5.5% off the total production.

Indeed a bit anorak.

Nice seats i wonder if they're original E21 seats or
E30 does it say which on the rails near the handbrake area :?:
Are you going to put on the 325 head and block or just use the head?
cheers Fran

Looking forward to seeing this car all done. Just out of interest where did you buy the new hood from??

Have you seen the black Baur in this months ''Total BMW'' magazine?

Just read the article in May 09 edition of Total BMW and it says they have bought a black 323i Baur - index # TWD185W / Baur # a2540 - 13 - they say they are going to run it as a project car this summer. The article itself is pretty shit to be honest although the car looks like a pretty good example. Gay looking alloys though!

A well known example:

What are the plans with it? Did they write something about that?

No, nothing. Just said the e21 was the forgotten BMW and the Baur the rarest version. I hope they don't ruin it with an e36 interior and 20'' rims! It'll be nice to see an e21 finbally get written about in the magazines. Looks like Retro Car Magazine are going to lose the chance to have been first to do it..... for a while anyway.

Those alloys look awful
