Noticed I never put any video up here. There's enough in the Video topic and on the YouTube channel and I try to come up with a video compilation of one of the E21 community Alps trips. But here's a few laps at the Zandvoort track filmed at the 2011 Dutch Oldtimer Festival. Nothing fancy, just cruisin' in the convertible with the Mrs
BTW black car up front is Sven's beautiful E21... with Alpina B11 3.5 engine!
There you have me! Doesn't happen usually as you're already way past max torque by that time so you don't even need a rev meter, you can feel it. But I guess it works then
I note that you were going to fit Bilstein shocks together with Eibach springs, could you tell me your reason for this. Also, what size tyres did you fit onto your alpina's?
When I bought the car it was on stock suspension and 13" which makes it handle like a boat imho. So I wanted to upgrade the suspension hence the following upgrades:
Bilstein B6 sport shocks as I got the feeling they were a little bit softer than B8 sprint
Eibach springs for the Alpina B6, because of my lighter engine the car sits relatively high on these springs which I like and is easy as well
15" Alpina alloys that I just gave fresh tyres: Michelin Pilot Exalto 195/50-15 on the 6J fronts and PE 205/50-15 on the 7J rears (Alpina spec)
Did a few other upgrades to improve handling as well like the rear Alpina adjustable sway bar and the front strut brace, but everything was thought out to improve handling without ruining every kind of comfort completely, it's still a convertible and not a trackday car (even though we did some track laps but I believe that video is already in this topic?)
Time for a 3.64 25% limited slip diff, a bit shorter than the current 3.45 (stock ratio) that is burnt anyway. I hope that especially closes the gap between 2nd and 3rd gear going up mountains for example, but I didn't want to go shorter than this. This diff is supplied through gedzor, test results later!
I drove a 3.64 for some time .. make sure you change the speedo out of a 320/6 otherwise speedo readings will be way off .. 130 gps was 160 on the speedo .. you mileage rises much quicker also.
