Very nice metallic-colour! Are those ALLOYs MAHLE-BBS 6*13?
I think that hand-clove-lock is an original one? What about front bumper? It seems to be a little bit "tired"

What about those doorpanels? Is that lining in the middle original or "tuned"?

@ Masa:
Bumpers tend to fade even when just only 1 year old....
So: al in all it is a very nice car. Let's hope it is a minter underneath the seat covers. Not shure about those doorpanels, I would replace them with originals.

He's had a hard life before having me as an owner

. Actually those rims are "FPS" . I'll post the pic soon so you can see. The door were dyed black by the previous owner since they were a bit worned out.
The car is in process of restoration so don't expect it to be perfect

im doing my best!

Nice looking car and a good color.
With a good mechanic and some "TLC" you should be able to get it back to where you want it.
Is your BMW importer helpful on parts or do bring them in yourself?
Best, Mike

Thanks for the comment mike,
It depends on which parts are we talking about. They are helpful but sometimes the will just have none in stock or they can't even import them from germany cause they are no longer made. Also sometimes the prices are ridiculous so almost all of the time I look for outside sources.

Hi Kpeters,
Nice car, and pretty straight for a restoration project! Most parts for an e21 should still be made new. I don't know about little interior components and the like; but fuel pumps, hoses, headlight bulbs, starter motors etc are all still made. You may need to go to the local Costa Rican BMW dealer though, rather than through youre mechanic, as mechanics tend to deal with their own parts importers. I have no problem finding bits for my old e12 (though I admit it has an e28 engine which is newer).

....And Jeroen seems to be going soft on us. He's calling everyone's cars 'cute' (or 'cutie'

) Youre a worry sometimes Jeroen

Oh, and the door trims just downloaded. The cloth/vinyl combo was on my e30, and I think I've seen the odd e21 with it too. On the e30, the cloth was the same colour as the vinyl, just with a slightly lighter chequer motif on it (trim is beige). I think with yours, Kpeters, someone has just changed the cloth colour to suit their liking. I don't think BMW would have such a divergent colour combo in their cars. And I don't think the finish is up to factory standards.
The car looks great though, and it is a nice colour indeed!
Cheers

Thanks 4 the compliments

im working my ass off for the beemer. When I bought the car, the door panels were like gray with black they were really worn out. I repaired them a bit and used some black colorant on them so they look newer. They are the orginal ones, with chekered fabric but I'm not sure of the orinal fabric color. Perhaps someone knows about bmw's interior colors for 1981? I have beige seats with combination leather and 2 fabrics.
