its a car for drifting! not looking mint. it'll do for now.

it'll probably wait till either my mate tom can do it or..... till the boss goes on holiday at work and then it can be done under the radar.

I'd like to see how you tackeld this repair. I recognize that rust...
Some E21's look great without the black trim between the lights. Otherwise it's a cheap part anyway.

tbh, it could have done with a back panel welding in it, if yours is like mine thats your best bet for a lasting repair.
but being that mines never going to be a mint car, gets used for drifting etc..... and i cant afford a new back panel. i just chopped it out the grotty bits made some patches and welded them in. then a touch of filler to tidy it up..... its not hard to do. for me anyway lol.

other tiny holes in the back panel still to do....

rather annoying ones around the lock....

how do you take the lock out, i looked at it for 10 seconds but couldnt work it out? plus i was guna leave it for another day anyway.

might actually paint the back panel black above bumper line, i kinda like it!

ive also thrown the rubbish black plastic bit between the lights in the bin as its pointless, broken and useless.

iirc the inside part of the lock unscrews. It's like a threaded barrel. Awkward to get at though. I think that's right anyway?

Undo the two bolts holding the latch bit in and the lock is a lot more accessible. There's a big plastic nut that screws onto the barrel to hold it in place. Piece of piss to remove, slightly more fiddly to get back in but if I can do it, you definitely can!

John

I am working on finding a trimmer to stick canvas to my targa panel and windscreen surround, once that's done I have no excuse not to get the Baur on the road, apart from the fact that there seem to be loads of vacuum pipe attachments on the inlet that aren't connected to anything. I also have your post-it which says "small pipe from back of head to manifold" I am now paranoid that I have connected a water pipe to a vacuum inlet or something equally daft and will not be able to try starting it until someone who knows what should go where looks at the car. I will need you to stop helping Dave for a day or so.

Also I have lots of steelies with serviceable tryes on, including some that have been painted blue whilst attached to the Baur - you are welcome to melt them!
