316 M10B18 Getrag 240 5 Speed Reverse Stucked -- Please

Last night I was trying to take out the car for a spin I applied the reverse gear which went in fine and when I tried to put the car in first gear the lever did came back the gear didn't now situation is gear lever is in middle like in neutral position and gear is stuck in reverse. :cry: Please Help and put some more cying icon like crying and banging your head to the floor.

And the lever feels like it's moving freely? Could be something has come off making the connection between lever and gearbox, could be as simple as a 5 cents circlip

Thanks Jeroen. How do I access it by removing console and carpeting or going underneath the Gbox ?

From underneath. There's not much room but just enough to get to it... don't forget to bring a torch :wink: and let us know what exactly broke!

Nope Shift Lever is ok. It is stucked inside. :(. I have taken out the tranny. will open it in a day or two.

Holy thread resurrection!!!

mine has just done this exact same thing.

Shame it had to do it at a show (did win thrid in the concourse though!). not funny being stretched off!

Im hoping its the shifter mech! if not then I will post my findings just in case it happens to anyone else!

I had to take the tranny out and give it to a specialist to fix it. But my car was much driven and beaten by previous owner. I still pray before putting my car in reverse ;). I hope yours got fixed easily.
