'82 316 Auto

Post by Eire21 »

Finally picked her up last night...here's a few photos with the refurbed 13" BBSs on and a good clean up!

1982 316 auto.

100% original apart from the wheels. Really pleased with it so far and still can't get over just how fresh it is!

Hope you like it!

you got a wonderfull car there!, bbs wheels don't make the car less original though, those were optional back in the 70/80's

I really like your car! keep it this way. and there is a 100.000 bonus points laying around for you! (sort of)

I took the corner at high speed, came in the ditch, drove straight through a garden, flipped over 4 times and then I lost control of my steering-wheel!

Thanks for the replies folks! No major plans really...just trying to keep it original as possible.

I bought replacement chrome strips for the centre of the window rubbers from Walloth and Nesch which arrived yesterday and so need to get them fitted - anyone tried doing this themselves? Also may replace the bumbers as the originals are looking a little pitted (not too bad though)

I fixed the hazard switch last night and will do a full service on it shortly and replace the front pads and discs.

I also bought a set of Boge 35mm lowering springs but I'm now having second thoughts about putting them on - drove her 30 miles into work this morning and it is just so comfortable and smooth as it is! What do you guys think?

Also, still looking for a leather sports steering wheel - (old style - if you are reading this I am still interested in yours - just waiting for the pics)

I will get a few more pictures up soon!

Cheers

Just brining the suspension down a little shouldn't change the comfort too much. Personally, I think it's a nicer feel so I would say go for it.

The window rubber trims are easy enough to fit although might be worth borrowing or buying the correct tool as opposed to using a screwdriver. Just be patient and take your time as one slip and you could have a nasty scratch to contend with.

Did you have no joy with steering wheel via PM I sent you?
