everytrack day ive ever been on i see these guys with their road cars with standard suspension, full interiors etc..... and they have a full race suit on theyve bought new for £300. :?
then theyre looking at their nankang tyres that are turning to dust and wondering why they cant get round the corners.... i just think they look like total noob balloons! (ie, full of air).
its a track day not a race meeting!
that looks even worse with alpina badges on!

the guy who runs the trackday company we used to do our days with at work always used to laugh at these people. its the stereotypical all the gear and no idea people that go to trackdays.
put your blue jeans on and a long sleeve top on.
I can assure you I won't be wearing it on track-days. As you say, it's just a track day not a race meeting. I'd rather spend the dough on a decent crash helmet or tyres.

I bought it because a) it was cheap b) quite collectable being a genuine factory item not a Chinese e-bay special c) it'll fetch more than I gave for it if & when I part with it.

I had hoped to have my car back by now but should definately be this week some time. A heavy work load and the Snetterton rounds of the PBMW championship have delayed things.
I opted to stick with EBC Greenstuff pads as they don't give off loads of dust and ruin my alloys. EBC even did me a discount so they came in at £29 which seems pretty fare. In fact they were free as I got them for Fathers Day! Dave is painting my calipers too which is good news. I wasn't really feeling the yellow ''Stevie Wonder'' paint job. I owe a word of thanks to Jason for the e12 master cylinder too. I did buy one but it turned out to be cracked but luckily Jason was taking one from his car. The new rack, top mounts and 'wunder bar' should mean my car feels very different to drive. I've also opted to have the weld on kit to lose the excessive rear camber, rather than just rely on the adjustable poly bushes. As a side note, Superflex have now started supplying the special bolts to aid adjustment which makes things much easier. I'm really looking forward to hearing the difference in exhaust note now the 6 branch has been fitted. I'll post some pictures to show exactly what changes have been made.

I think your right Jason. I spoke to Troy a couple of weeks back as since using their dyno last time I've fitted a much better chip, air filter & the 6 branch, so it'd be interesting to see if output matches Dave's from E21 Revival. Anyway, I'm going up again in a weeks time.

I finally got the information from the DVLA today, that lists the previous 5 owners of my car. It's also had 2 other registration numbers.

Originally it was supplied by Halstead Motor Co in Colchester, Essex. The original plate was UEV 950W. It was supplied to a company called C J Eley so I thought I would give them a call. A longshot I know. In fact, I got to speak to the guy who bought my car new back in February 81. He was really pleased to hear it was still on the road and told me it was him who had fitted the LSD a few months into ownership. It's a garage that he owns/runs. Anyway, he is going to try and find some old photos for me to add to the service history.

The next 2 owners were Johm and Jack Hart and they both lived in Coggeshall, near Braintree in Essex. The 4th was Richard S J Locke, also in Coggeshall. The reg' number changed to 22 SHK. Finally it went to the guy I bought it from with reg' number WJN 790W.

I've written to the other registered keepers but as we're talking 20 or so years, I'm not sure I'll be able to find them, even if they survive. You never know though I guess. It would just be nice to know the full history. It won't interest everyone I know, but I like researching stuff like that.

My car's still in Essex today but, fingers crossed, it'll be coming back on Friday. 8)

Cost a fiver with DVLA form V888. Had to wait a month though but well worth the effort.
Was nice to chat to cars first owner too!

That's really interesting, I think it's great that you can do that and it's so cheap it's worth it even if you never manage to find any other owners.
Be great too if that guy can find some old pics for you! :D

That car is proper local to me! I was born in Colchester (15miles from me now) and currently I live 10mins away from Halstead! If you ever want to sample some of the roads it originally drove on then let me know 8)

Do you know Coggelshall too Rob? Kent Gardens.

I think I'm picking my car up on Tuesday or Wednesday next week, so might have to take a detour and pay a visit.

Filling the form out today, both of my cars have a very interesting history. The Bride for example has 12 previous owners, of which I only know the existence of about 4 (including of course the guy I bought it off) from the receipts I have . And three registration number changes...

I know Coggelshall, I go there for the dentist! A nice little town, like Sudbury where I actually live. It's about 30mins from me, inbetween Colchester and Braintree off the A120.

Where's RPM based? I suggest meeting up to swap bits, like the tyres and harness, if you can stretch to visiting the farm you can also see the 2.7 running before it's removed.
