I've written to the other registered keepers but as we're talking 20 or so years, I'm not sure I'll be able to find them, even if they survive. You never know though I guess. It would just be nice to know the full history. It won't interest everyone I know, but I like researching stuff like that.

My car's still in Essex today but, fingers crossed, it'll be coming back on Friday. 8)
Just heard from owners 2 & 3 who were John and Jack Hart. John, the son, ran my car for a year or so before selling it to his dad Jack. He is now 90 but still remembers the car well as he owned it for the best part of 20 years. In fact, he said he never took it more than 20 miles from home which explains the low mileage. When he did sell it, he P/X'd it for a little Rover back at Eleys where it came from when new. I'm going to drop in and say hello to him next week as he's keen to see it and tell me about his time with it.

I found some contact details for S Locke, owner number 4, so I'm just waiting for a response now and then that's the whole history pieced together. :D

I can see some Earl Grey and Rich Tea Biscuits making an appearance during your reminiscence session.

I didnt have to dig so deep to find the history of my car. The guy i bought it from had it from new. He was a priest.............Bless Him !!!!

mark, just a quick one mate, you may have low mileage on the clocks, but i cant imagine the engine you have in your car now being from an E30 a low mileage so really it wouldnt prove any + points on the engine but to say its a recorded milege from the old engine! and + mileage added on to the clock from the 325 engine you have in your car now!

Thats nothing mobster (bless you my son) the first owner on my car from what i was told was originally owned by a guitarist called KK Downing from the band Judas Priest, but cant confirm this although i did contact the previous owner and did say it was first owned by him... Pic below -

Well a call from the final owners Mum, means I've managed to trace all the previous owners now. S Locke moved to Australia nearly 5 years ago and evidently he wishes he'd taken the old e21 with him. He did take his Triumph Vitesse though. Anyway, I'm going to e-mail him later and see what information he might have and ask if he has any old photos too? I guess it's thanks to the internet & Google that I've been able to trace everyone so quickly and it's great to have been able to piece together such a comprehensive history of my car.


I also got a call from Dave @ RPM today as there have been a few delays getting everything back together. One of my Volvo calipers had a seized piston where it had been stored and a rebuild kit for the e12 brake master cylinder had to be ordered. K-mac top mounts and GAZ coilovers have meant machining some spacers to fit. The 6 branch is all done but one of the threads stripped on a TCA and an old one had to be swapped over. It's all coming together though and I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. I'd rather it was done right first time than risk it having to go back again later on.

2004 mate.

Gonna get the diff checked out too as he seems to think it had an e12 one fitted back in 82.
