BMW E9

Post by Alan »

I thought I would share this with you guys as I'm sure you all like them......

Theres a little get together on Friday evenings for hot rods but allsorts turn up there, including this E9. Its the first time I have ever seen one! Its set up for track days hence the roll cage and some other tricky stuff.

What sort of price are these to buy? I'm guessing there big money?

Generally they are gorgeous looking cars that fetch good money. This one might go for cheap because that spoiler is f*** ridiculous!

I think the front spoiler suits it really well (looks like it's hiding an oil cooler - or an intercooler...), but the chrome arch covers really need to walk in an orderly fashion towards the nearest skip.

Nahh, chrome arches are an original piece and belong, the spoiler is not and should be dumped in nearest skip! In my opinion :D

Chrome arches are responsible for more rotten arches than anything else.

Chrome arches are not a original feature on non-CSL cars, as far as I know. And as RB said, they rot arches like the dickens.
As for the spoiler? Your opinion of course and I'll defend your right to say it I wouldn't mind something similar on my green E21.
The spoiler on this one must look really gay to you then...

Although the silver car would look more balanced with a CSL-style rear spoiler.

Beautiful cars.

My mate is hopefully coming to the end of an epic restoration job on one.
Bought the car which looked solid, went into a mates garage for tidy up, still yet to see the light of day 16months later.

I will post pics as soon as finished, hes just waiting for some final bits that have been lost over time, seat rails, couple of bits of trim, if anyone knows of anybody who may have some E9 bits please PM me.

Yes, they're beautiful! When I almost had my driver's license, and was on the lookout for an oldtimer, I saw one of these in dark blue metallic with brown leather interior 8) I thought "nevermind buying an E21, I want one of those". Looked on the internet to see what they cost in NL, and found they cost about €12k. Then I thought "I just love E21's, I gotta get me one"

I love the green one, including spoilers. Seriously don't like the front spoiler on the silver one. Love the rest though.
