Mileage Milestone

Post by E21meister »

While on the way to the Ace Classic Night, this happened:

My friend took this one for me:

130,000! Not the highest mileage I've had on a car (I had a Merc 280CE Coupé with over 152,000 miles), but the most I've had on any E21 I've owned. Just over 4600 miles for every year it's existed and there's plenty of life left in it, thanks to all of the serving and maintainence it's had over the years. A shame we see a lot of sheds ready to be weighed in at 70 - 80,000.
What mileage shows on your E21s?

Nice, I also have a picture of my 318i reaching 200.000km. It now has 209k something. 320i has 200k+ miles on it.

But I seriously doubt most mileages. If they're correct, they either weren't used for years, or not driven a lot when in use. There have to be lots of examples of 200k+ miles / 300k+ km, and how often do you see them?
I remember an article in one of my father's car magazines of a guy who had a million km's on the clock of his Merc, and finally decided to get rid of it

edit: did some googling to find something about that article, but found out there are cars with lots of millions on the clock (Merc taxi's)

17700 on the clock, but engine has been rebuilt and written down and only done 900 miles, my opinion its still running in and is due for an oil change which i cant be bothered.

im doing roughly 6k per year - but i have only owned it one year :p

I have a daily driver but i do like to bring the bmw out whenever i can - having another car makes you appreciate toys more.

you guys all know that mileage doesnt actually matter on these things. Its all about condition and maintenance.

BMW's love regular oil changes and will rack up starship mileages.
