Water in cockpit problems
Hey guys I gotta pretty harsh winter here in Costa Rica and what used to be a problem with water on the glovebox now turned out to be a swimming pool all over the car's carpet.
I don't know what else to do I've adjusted all gaskets, used silicone all around the windshield gasket, lockstrip, on the fan/heater gasket, and around all that heater fan hole on the engine bay.
Im really going nuts I can't stand the car drowning in water every second...seems like the water is coming behind the dash, also if I turn on the fan while it's raining I get a load of water thrown to my shoes and on top of the radio (yes it fried it out) :/.
Would appreciate any help!
Thanks.
Konrad.

So the water is comming in through the heater/fan unit.
Although you changed the gasket it could be that the water can not go away there and get in by the fan.
Where this unit is placed in the enginebay this space has two holes on both sides where the water can flow away. Sometimes rust or sand and leaves are gathering there.

Maybe it's not only through that unit I don't really know I don't know what to expect anymore since I had the completely covered up for a while the whole thing and water still managed to get in.
So im completely lost, only thing I have not tried is probing around in the drainage holes.

Brothers e21 is doing the same thing, havent had a chance to check it out yet, but possibly water getting in from inside the antenna cable hole under the left guard?
Wet glovebox is a common one isnt it? That is usually attributed to windscreen seal.

Yeah it's definitively rain water and not coolant. I don't wan't to take the whole carpet off again
and no way im taking off the New Dash I just installed last year that's a nightmare!
This really sucks guys, I tried to see if the drainage holes in the vent thing on the engine bay were working and it looks like they discharge water through the lateral fenders.
My heater unit is a Behr one yesterday I noticed it's not heating anymore but the problem with water coming in was happening even before that so I don't really care if it heats or not since im in the tropics. (Hence the enormous amount of water!)

If you manage to take a look at that please get back to me, the antennae is on the fender and as far as I'm concerned it shouldn't be a problem. Water in my car is coming from like behind the gas pedal.mk1300 wrote:Brothers e21 is doing the same thing, havent had a chance to check it out yet, but possibly water getting in from inside the antenna cable hole under the left guard?

Is the water comming in when you are driving or also when the car is standing still.
You could look at the rubber thule where the wiring is coming in from the engine bay. I do not think that the sealing of the pedalbox is a problem.
I think we have cleared al openings at the left side in the gaspedal area then.
